Beaumaris Lifeboat volunteers tasked to an activated Personal Location Beacon
The Beaumaris lifeboat volunteers requested to launch at 1.05 pm on Thursday 20 June 2024 in response to an activated Personal Location Beacon near Puffin Island.
In addition to the volunteers on the Beaumaris Lifeboat, Moelfre Lifeboat and the Penmon Mobile Coastguard team had also been tasked to this incident.
Fortunately, the Coastguard was able to ascertain quite quickly that the beacon had been accidentally activated aboard a dive boat.
The lifeboat was released by the Coastguard and arrived back at Beaumaris Lifeboat Station
A RNLI spokesperson said: ‘due to the early request by the coastguard our volunteer lifeboat crew were able to proceed to the incident quickly, and fortunately in this instance our service were not required.’
