A 42' motorboat had broken down in Poole Bay and although not in immediate danger they required assistance getting to a place of safety.

The volunteers were actually in the middle of a towing exercise with a local angling boat so this was stopped and best speed was made to the casualty's last known position.

Once on scene two volunteer crewmembers were put aboard the casualty vessel, the towline was passed across and the trainees were able to continue their training and get the boat under tow.

A course was plotted for Poole Harbour and the casualty was secured to a mooring off Brownsea Island just after 10.30pm. The lifeboat was then released to return to Swanage.
