All-weather lifeboat (Sybil Mullen Glover) launched on service to locate, assess and assist a 13m sailing vessel suffering engine difficulties on the River Tamar. Our volunteer crew arrived on scene to assist the 5 casualties and vessel.
12:47pm the pager sounded again.
The Inshore lifeboat (Annabel E Jones) launched immediately on service to reports of a missing diver near the Eddystone Lighthouse. The all-weather lifeboat re tasked and made best speed to assist in the search for the missing diver.
Following a search of the area crew member Wilfred Deacon on the Plymouth all-weather lifeboat spotted the diver drifting on the surface. Helm Sam Stephan on the inshore lifeboat proceeded to the area and crew member Josh Hay assisted recovering the diver with his equipment onto the all-weather lifeboat.
Plymouth all-weather lifeboat and inshore lifeboat were joint by Fowey all-weather lifeboat, Rescue 924 and vessels in the immediate area.
Wilfred Deacon said: We arrived on scene and began the search pattern set out by Falmouth Coastguard and on our first leg of the search I spotted the diver on the surface of the water and notified the Coxswain.
Coxswain Neil Humphrey said: We located the casualty on the first leg of our search and with the assistance of the inshore lifeboat recovered the diver and his equipment on to the all-weather lifeboat to be assessed. The paramedic winch-man from Rescue 924 winched down to carry out a full assessment and thankfully deemed him fit and well. A job well done by everyone involved resulting in a person being able to return home today.
If you get in to difficulty at sea dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
