Salty’s Bar and Restaurant donate £5000 to Yarmouth RNLI
Customers at Salty’s Bar & Restaurant in 2023, as well as generous top ups by the owners have raised an incredible £5000 for Yarmouth RNLI.
In line with the RNLI celebrating 200 years, and Yarmouth RNLI celebration 100 years of lifesaving, on Thursday 6 June, volunteers from Yarmouth RNLI off and on shore crew were presented with a cheque of £5000 by former business owners, Melanie and Ed Panek on behalf of Salty’s Bar and Restaurant opposite Yarmouth’s Severn Class all-weather lifeboat in the glorious early evening sunshine.
Salty’s have raised this amazing amount throughout 2023 where customers would donate £1 per person when dining in the 2-AA rosette restaurant located adjacent to the RNLI Lifeboat Station, and the funds raised would be split between Salty’s chosen charities, where the Panek’s would then match-fund the donations.
Ed Panek said. ‘We are absolutely delighted to be presenting this cheque for £5,000 to the RNLI Yarmouth on behalf of our former customers at Salty's and ourselves. This brings the total amount raised for RNLI Yarmouth to £15,000 over the 3 years of our ownership of Salty's.’
Melanie Panek said. ‘Many of our customers travelled to Salty's on their boats and all will have travelled by ferry at some stage, and the RNLI continued to keep our customers safe with their brave protection of all our lives at sea.’
Yarmouth RNLI would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to Melanie and Ed and the customers from Salty’s for this very kind donation. This donation will help to continue the lifesaving work at sea at Yarmouth RNLI by training new volunteer crew members and providing the crew with new lifesaving equipment.
