RNLI Tighnabruaich Volunteers with the Connecting Communities Scroll

Station volunteers had met earlier in the day to take part in the next stage of the RNLI’s ‘Connecting our Communities’ relay-style event – one of the ways in which the charity is marking its 200th anniversary in 2024.

The event sees a scroll, bearing the RNLI pledge, being passed through RNLI communities – lifeboat stations, lifeguard units and fundraising branches – around the UK and Ireland and being signed by representatives at each location on its route. At Tighnabruaich, the scroll was signed by crew and fundraising volunteers Donald Clark, Hanne Watson and Janet Lange.

Crew again responded to a call out the following day to assist the Coastguard helicopter in tracing a RIB which had issued a distress call but little known of it’s location. Following a short search, the RIB was traced at safety at Holy Loch Marina enabling crew to return to the station and again prepare the inshore lifeboat for next service.
