The ILB was first to launch in to the brisk offshore wind. When they couldn't locate the paddleboarder in the Ballard Down area they requested that the ALB launched to increase the size of the search area.

Shortly after the ALB arrived in the search area information was received from the RNLI Lifeguards on Swanage Beach that they had the paddleboarder with them. The volunteers from Swanage Coastguard were then tasked to reunite the father and son.

With the situation resolved both lifeboats were released to return to station.
