The band are playing at the Fowey Lifeboat Week main event which takes place on Fowey Town Quay from 5pm on Friday 2 August. At 5pm the Fowey lifeboat will be moored on the Town Quay and will be open to the public for lifeboat tours followed by a lifeboat dedication ceremony at 6.50pm. The evening will continue with music, food and refreshments on the quay. The main attraction, Joey the Lips, will be playing from 7.45pm.

The band has played throughout the UK and Europe, headlining to 10,000+ audiences at music festivals, in 2019 supporting UB40, Gabrielle, The Hoosiers and Bananarama and in recent years supporting Will Young, Bob Geldof and The Boomtown Rats, Toyah, Heaven 17 & The Real Thing. The band is a 10-piece outfit with fresh young talent joining over the years to stay energetic and relevant.

Fowey Lifeboat Press Officer, Cathy Baillie said: ‘We’re delighted to have such a hi-energy band for our RNLI 200 celebrations. It is set to be a fantastic evening, with live music on Town Quay, followed by the event finalè. This will be a spectacular firework display at 9.45pm, when fireworks will be set off from a barge in Fowey Harbour, so that people on both sides of the river, in Fowey and Polruan can enjoy them. We are delighted that Horizon Architectural Glazing has agreed to sponsor the fireworks and are very grateful for their involvement in our celebration of 200 years of the RNLI, the charity that saves lives at sea. The entire event would not have been possible without the generosity of all our sponsors. Thank you to Platinum sponsors, Fowey Harbour Commissioners, Imerys and Toms Boatyard Polruan. And thank you also to Bristol Private Office Services, Four Turnings Garage, Mor Interiors, Niles Bakery, and Richards Fruit and Veg.’

The event will feature a stage, created by the Fowey RNLI volunteers, who have upcycled an old pontoon that was due to be scrapped, topped with a canopy created from sails kindly donated by members of the public. There will also be limited edition reusable cups available, which people can acquire for a donation, and then use to buy refreshments from the local pubs to enjoy on the quay.
