Talk on work of station inspired Rotary Club donation to Hunstanton RNLI
A Norfolk Rotary Club donated £450 to the charity that saves lives at sea after a volunteer gave an inspiring talk.
Mel Robson from the 20-strong club said the money came from a £250 donation from Rotary, along with £200 she raised by hosting a garden party at her home in Downham Market with her husband Paul.
'I was the president of the Rotary Club until the end of June,' she said. 'So it was my last hurrah.'
She added the club decided to make the donation after Kate Craven, Station Visits Officer and Water Safety Lead at Hunstanton RNLI gave a talk to members on the work of the station.
'We were so impressed,' she said. 'We thought we'd have garden party and donate money to Hunstanton RNLI.'
Like more than 200 stations around the coast of the UK and Ireland, its lifesaving work would not be possible without the kindness of those who donate or remember the RNLI in their wills.
