New helm for Calshot RNLI!
Calshot RNLI is delighted that Ant Hole has successfully passed out as Helm for the D Class Lifeboat David Radcliffe
Ant first joined Calshot RNLI 12 years ago, back in 2012, starting as shore crew before progressing to boat crew. In 2017 he relocated to Swanage and continued volunteering within their crew, before eventually returning to Calshot last year.
Ant has always loved being on the water, and was keen to give back to the community:
“I was bought up in seaside towns, first Swanage then Gurnard on the Isle of Wight. I always loved being on the water, the water became my office, teaching watersports and outdoor education. I used to watch the lifeboats go out and I wanted to give back to the community.”
Calshot RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager Jane Banting said: ‘Becoming a helm requires a significant investment of time and effort and the successful pass out against a rigorous set of RNLI standards to ensure we can deliver world class operational capabilities, many congratulations to Ant on achieving this milestone in his RNLI career.’
Next on Ant’s target list is a successful pass out to allow him to command our B Class Lifeboat
Max Walls.
