Newbiggin Blessing of the Boat
The annual blessing of the boats took place at Newbiggin lifeboat station today.
Once again the service and blessing was well supported with the popular Salvation Army.
After the service the Ladies Fundraising Team provided refreshments for the gathered guests.
The blessing was conducted by The Revd Dr Richard Whaite, Director of Mission and Ministry in the Diocese of Newcastle who blessed the lifeboat accompanied by our Lifeboat Chaplain and volunteer crew Father Anthony O'Grady for this special commemoration in this, the RNLI's 200th year.
Sunday 21st July 2024 sees the Summer Fete Day getting underway at 11.00am with a variety of stalls and attractions in and around the lifeboat station. There will be displays and demonstrations undertaken by the lifeboat and coastguard subject to operational demands throughout the afternoon.
For those wishing to enjoy a selection of home made cakes and scones outside the boathouse with the serving of hot and cold drinks. Stalls include tombola, souvenirs, raffles, bric a brac and lots of other entertainment on the day.
Please come along and give us your support for our major fundraising day. There is ample free parking at Church Point next to Newbiggin Maritime Centre and this promises to be a busy day for our coastal community with a variety of events taking place.
