Peterhead RNLI visit Mintlaw Academy for a packed day of water safety advice
A group of S4 pupils were excited to be visited by volunteer crew members from their local RNLI lifeboat station on Tuesday 2 July.
The pupils were visited by volunteer crew members, Sarah and Sean, alongside the volunteer Lifeboat Operations Manager, Jurgs, from Peterhead RNLI Lifeboat Station.
The volunteers discussed water safety, including how to stay safe while enjoying our coastlines, and explained the roles of the RNLI and the HM Coastguard to the children. They also assisted Police Scotland North East with a CPR exercise, and the pupils got to have fun learning how to use throw lines.
The Safer Aberdeenshire events go round all the local secondary schools providing safety advice to young people and are co-ordinated by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
