The lifeboat launched and made good speed in smooth conditions arriving on scene exactly an hour after launching.

The motorboat had suffered a significant fuel leak and the skipper was unsure what to do for the best so had turned the boat's engines off and called for assistance.

A crew member was put aboard the boat to assess the situation and see what could be done. It turned out that the fuel leak was confined to one of the boat's engines so with the good engine now running the boat was escorted to its berth in Portland Marina.

With the situation resolved the lifeboat returned to Swanage to be washed down, refuelled and made ready for the next service.
