The Sand Rabbit hosted charity quiz nights in November on behalf of RNLI Port Talbot. £260 was raised and donated, special thanks to The Sand Rabbit and to all those who took part in the quiz nights.

We do count on our volunteers and supporters. As volunteer lifeboat crew we couldn't launch without kind donations from the public which fund the kit, training and equipment we need to save others and return home safely to their families. A christmas gift to the RNLI this winter will help crews be prepared and protected and is a unique way to say thank you for giving up their christmas time to save someone else.

On Sunday 22 December some of the 60 strong crew at Port Talbot Lifeboat Station came together for a family fun day.

The festivities started with the Station Chaplain, Phil Denyer and his gorgeous companion Molly the dog leading the annual carol service in the boat house. The service ended with a rousing rendition of Jingle Bells. Following the end of song the youngsters got word that Santa had to be rescued and was en route to the station to say hello before his onward journey to a local venue for a Christmas party.

The Port Talbot Gas Welfare Club was home to the crew and their families for the afternoon. There was a buffet and a lot of party games. The kids built a snowman by covering crew members in toilet paper and using hats and scarfs as props to finish off their designs. Our Operations Manager Clive Morris let loose and took part in the limbo. After putting in 1300 volunteering hours this year he definitely deserved to have some fun. All the crew at RNLI Port Talbot want to thank Clive for his support, guidance and leadership and for his commitment to the whole operation spanning the crew, shop and fundraising.

To top off the day the Gas Club kindly donated £150 which was given to our fundraiser and life long member of the Gas Club, John Lewis. Many thanks to the Gas Club for their continued support.

Kirstee David-Watts, Press Officer said ‘On behalf of the crew across the whole station we would like to say a great big thank you to all of our supporters. We wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!’
