Kessock RNLI volunteers respond to Christmas Day shout

Lifeboats News Release

Volunteers at Kessock RNLI Lifeboat Station were tasked to a vessel that had run aground on Christmas Day by HM Coastguard.

On Wednesday 25 December, Kessock RNLI were tasked to launch by HM Coastguard to assist a 28ft vessel which had run aground off Chanonry Point with reports of casualties in the water.

The lifeboat launched and made best speed in very rough conditions to the casualty vessel. Thankfully, during this time, two casualties had made way to the awaiting HM Coastguard and Scottish Ambulance personnel who checked for signs of hypothermia after being in the water.

Due to the casualty vessel being so close to the shore, the lifeboat couldn’t get close enough to assist in securing the vessel and was stood down shortly after launching.

The lifeboat returned back to the lifeboat station to be made ready for next service, with volunteer crew returning home to be with their families and Christmas dinners.

If you see anyone in difficulty in the water, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

In December, Kessock RNLI launched a special Christmas video with the Peoples Show Choir Black Isle to raise funds for the local lifeboat station. If you would like to donate, visit: https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.justgiving.com%2Fpage%2Fhomefromthesea%3Futm_medium...
