Burnham-on-Sea RNLI volunteers paged to assist Coastguards search
HM Coastguard control at Milford Haven paged Burnham-on-Sea RNLI volunteers at 9.46 am, Monday 16 December, to assist a Coastguard rescue team with a missing person search.
Burnham’s D class lifeboat Burnham Reach was quickly launched, and proceeded to the initial target area in the River Brue.
Lifeboat volunteer crew Nick Prout said; ‘We were called to search for a missing person, apparently spotted at the River Brue sluice gates. We searched the Brue, plus up to, and including, the sluice gates at the King Sedgemoor drain. Then, a shoreline search to the lower lighthouse, with no result. We were eventually stood down by Milford Control, and returned to Burnham Jetty for recovery, and wash-down at the lifeboat station.’
