Take the plunge for Southend RNLI this New Year’s Day!
Take part in the ninth Southend RNLI lifeboat charity New Year’s Day Dip along Southend seafront on Wednesday 1 January 2025 to raise vital funds for the charity's lifesaving work.
Back by popular demand the Southend RNLI New Year's Day Dip makes a return for the ninth year running. Yes that's right, this will be our ninth Southend RNLI Dip!
So why not brave the cold, clear the head and take a dip on New Year's Day for an incredible charity? Simply pluck up the courage to take the dip in the 5-6C waters of Southend, whilst raising money for the RNLI!
All funds raised will go directly towards the running of Southend RNLI Lifeboat Station, part of the charity that saves lives at sea.
It costs around £438,000 a day to run the RNLI all of which is generously donated by the public. This means a modern fleet of lifeboats and highly trained volunteer crews are ever ready to go to a rescue from 238 lifeboat stations around the UK and Republic of Ireland.
Participants will pay a £6 fee and are then invited to fundraise further to support Southend RNLI. Fancy dress is also encouraged for added fun on the day!
Daniel Wanna, Event Manager & Southend RNLI Helm, said: ‘We are delighted to return the Southend RNLI New Year’s Day Dip for another year! This will be our ninth year running the event. Historically, this event has raised in excess of £12,000, enabling us to continue to save lives at sea, here in Southend. A very big thank you to everyone who has supported the event in the past, we look forward to seeing you again this time’.
PLEASE NOTE - DIP ALLOCATION IS MADE ON A FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE BASIS. WE ARE UNABLE TO SWITCH PEOPLE BETWEEN DIPS ON THE DAY. IF YOU WISH TO DIP TOGETHER WITH FAMILY/FRIENDS, PLEASE ENSURE YOU BOOK AT THE SAME TIME.
