It was a memorable evening for the crew of Moelfre Lifeboat Station on Wednesday (4th December) when, in place of our usual weekly training session, The High Sheriff of Gwynedd and Anglesey, Sarah Foskett, was welcomed to the station by Lifeboat Operations Manager Andy Hoyle and station Coxswain Vince Jones to formally present the Kings Coronation medals to those who were members of the lifeboat crew with at least five years of service at the time of King Charles III's and Queen Camilla's coronation on 6 May 2023.

Dwynwen Parry, a long-serving crew member, said, “This really was a special occasion for the station, and it was an honour that the High Sheriff agreed to present the medals on behalf of King.
Dwynwen added King Charles is the RNLI’s patron, and we are proud of our royal connections, having previously welcomed the then Prince Charles on an official visit to the station in 2004.”

Gareth Owen, one of the crew members to receive the King’s Coronation Medal, said: “It was a very proud moment for me to receive this prestigious award with my fellow crew members. Having our fellow crew members present at the ceremony made it an extra special occasion.”

Those unable to attend the award ceremony will receive their awards later.
