Teignmouth RNLI appoints new Lifeboat Operations Manager
This week volunteers at Teignmouth Lifeboat Station have welcomed Andy Lilburn as the new Lifeboat Operations Manager.
Teignmouth RNLI has seen some important changes this week as previous Lifeboat Operations Manager (LOM), Charlie Woolnough, has stepped down. Charlie has been volunteer LOM for the past thirteen years, before which he was a volunteer Helm, and following this one of the volunteer Launch Authority and Tractor Drivers.
Throughout his thirty-year association with the RNLI, Charlie achieved some notable successes, one of his proudest moments of being LOM was ‘leading the station and volunteers through the Covid pandemic, keeping the boat and her crew on service throughout.’
Charlie hands over the volunteer position to Andy Lilburn, currently one of the Launch Authority volunteers. Speaking at the handover, Charlie said ‘The timing is right for a new Operations Manager. I wish Andy and the station all the best for the future as they continue to save lives at sea.’ Charlie will still be a familiar face at Teignmouth RNLI and plans to continue on as volunteer Launch Authority as well as undertaking some of the station mechanic duties.
In thanking Charlie for his years of service, Andy said ‘Teignmouth RNLI has an exciting future. We have recently received our new Atlantic 85 lifeboat,
Claude and Kath and have a highly skilled group of volunteers. I look forward to leading them into 2025 and beyond’.
Everyone at Teignmouth RNLI would like to extend their thanks to Charlie for his dedicated service as LOM and wishes Andy all the best for the future at Teignmouth Lifeboat Station.
