Lifeboats News Release

Several swimmers and a support team from St David's Boat Club and Caravan Park participated in a swim relay on Sunday, August 17th, to raise funds for our station.

Today, we can reveal that the swimmers raised an incredible £4.428 this year.

Deputy Coxswain Mike Hughes-Roberts says.

The RNLI relies on voluntary donations to help save lives at sea and provide vital training for lifeboat crews. The St David's swimmers raised an incredible £4428, and I would like to thank all of them, plus the organisers and volunteer helpers, for their valiant efforts and support.

Mike continues: ‘Sea swimming is very popular, and an organised event like this is a wonderful way to participate while swimming with a group of people. Swimmers may often overestimate their ability and underestimate unforeseen currents, cold water and waves that make open-water swimming challenging. It was very encouraging to see so many swimmers wearing brightly coloured swim hats and using tow floats, both of which increase your visibility in the water.

We at RNLI Moelfre would also like to thank the swimmers, organisers, and support team for raising a grand total of £17,828 over the last four years.
