
Fowey RNLI lifeboat crew rescue family on broken down boat
On 20 August at 4.01pm Fowey lifeboat volunteer crew launched the D class to assist a broken down boat located about 1.5 nautical miles SE of Lantic bay with people on board.
The lifeboat crew located the vessel SE of the initial location. Four of the people on board were transferred to the inshore lifeboat for safety. One of the lifeboat crew members went on board the boat and sorted out a faulty kill switch. The boat was escorted back into Fowey by the inshore lifeboat The people on the lifeboat were dropped off near their accommodation as they were cold, and the boat with its owner were returned to the pontoon.
Safety advice was given to the family, as only the young child was wearing a buoyancy aid and the other members of the family had no life jackets. The only safety device they were carrying was a mobile phone.
