Seahouses all-weather lifeboat John and Elizabeth Allan was launched with the ambulance crew aboard.

High tide at Holy Island was at 2.55am, so the causeway was closed to vehicle traffic.

The lifeboat then made best speed to Holy Island. Meanwhile, the local Coastguard Rescue Team on Holy Island had also been mobilised, and a Coastguard Rescue Helicopter from Prestwick had also been tasked. At the island, the ambulance crew were eventually released and returned to their vehicle at Seahouses. The RNLI has no further information about the casualty or his condition.

Seahouses RNLI Volunteer Press Officer, Ian Clayton commented: ‘Our thoughts are with ill person and his family. We have no further information about the casualty at this time.’
