Ian Killion has taken on the volunteer position of Lifeboat Management Chairperson, while Adam Prescott, the station's volunteer Press Officer, will take on the role of volunteer Lifeboat Operations Manager.

Ian Killion, a resident and parish councillor in nearby Mistley, brings a wealth of experience and dedication to his new role as Chair of the Lifeboat Management Group at Harwich RNLI. In addition to his local governance role, Ian serves as a Magistrate in Ipswich and is a Senior Finance Manager for a major retailer. His long-standing commitment to volunteerism, particularly in youth development, makes him a valuable asset to the team.

'I have always supported various organisations since my university days, with a particular focus on youth development', Ian said.

He continued: 'I jumped at the opportunity to join this special organisation in their 200th anniversary year. I am looking to support and fundraise for the station to continue to save lives but also to support the dedicated education and water safety volunteers, who promote awareness of staying safe in the local rivers and the sea. I look forward to promoting the station's activities to Harwich's residents, organisations, and the wider North Essex community.'

Adam Prescott, in the role of Lifeboat Operations Manager, will be responsible for the day-to-day crewing of both lifeboats, ensuring that they are always ready to be deployed in emergencies. His expertise and dedication to the RNLI's mission will be invaluable to the operational success of the Harwich station.

Adam, said: 'I am proud to step into this role and would like to thank the previous Operations Manager, Peter Bull, for his years of dedicated service to the lifeboat station and the wider Harwich community.

'Peter's commitment has been instrumental in our operations, and I aim to build on his legacy by ensuring our lifeboats are always ready to respond and our crews are well-prepared for any situation.'
