Further communications from the yacht's crew also reported that the engine had failed, leaving the yacht drifting out of control. The lifeboat launched and rounded Old Harry. The yacht was quickly located and a crew member was transferred over to help with the tow. The lifeboat, now with the yacht in tow, re-traced its steps back to Swanage where the yacht was secured to the lifeboat mooring. The crew stayed on board and the lifeboat was rehoused after a wash down just before 2am.
