Harwich RNLI assists stricken motorboat near The Naze
The Harwich RNLI's all-weather lifeboat, Albert Brown, was tasked at 2:49pm on Tuesday, 30 July, to assist a 33-foot yacht experiencing engine failure
The vessel, located five miles southeast of The Naze, had two people on board. Upon reaching the scene the decision was made to take the motorboat under tow as it was adrift and close to the busy shipping lanes of Harwich and Felixstowe docks. The volunteer crew of Albert Brown established a towline and safely towed the yacht to Ha’Penny Pier in Harwich. The yacht was handed over to the Coastguard Rescue Team at 6:30pm.
The Albert Brown was refuelled and made ready for its next call out, demonstrating the dedication and efficiency of the RNLI volunteers. This successful rescue highlights the importance of the RNLI’s role in ensuring the safety of those at sea.
The RNLI is a charity that relies on donations to fund its lifesaving work. The Harwich crew are all volunteers who dedicate their time and skills to save lives at sea.
