Burnham-on-Sea RNLI volunteer crews paged to carry out a Shoreline search
Burnham-on-Sea RNLI volunteers were paged by Milford Haven Coastguard, at 8.43 pm, 1st August, after two children were reported missing from The Unity Farm holiday park.
Both Burnham lifeboats were speedily launched, and prepared to carry out a shoreline search, in liaison with HM Coastguard rescue teams and police, towards Brean. In fact our crews were stood down before reaching the search area.
Helmsman Jason Coombes said; 'We had launched and were making way to the search area, when we were stood down, after the children had been safely discovered on shore. Sea state was moderate in the fresh on shore winds, but not uncomfortable. We returned to Burnham slipway for recovery and wash-down by our shore crew volunteers. In the end, a happy result.'
