George Porter is training hard for the London Marathon on Sunday 21 April.
The 28-year-old business consultant, who now lives and works in the capital, said: 'I started running during lockdown and it's my first marathon. When my ballot came up, I decided to do it for the RNLI.'
George, who grew up in Hunstanton, said he would probably have joined the volunteer crew at the town's busy lifeboat station had life and work not taken him away from the sea.
'I've always loved the RNLI,' he said. 'Growing up on the Norfolk coast the RNLI has been prominent and as a kite surfer, I have seen first-hand the work that goes into rescuing people at sea and behind the scenes.
'They rely solely on donations and the majority of the crew members are volunteers giving up their time to help.'
George popped in to see the crew after a run on the beach, after they returned from their regular exercise aboard the fast inshore lifeboat and search and rescue hovercraft which they operate from their base on Sea Lane.
RNLI Hunstanton Lifeboat Operations Manager, Rigil Kent said: 'Our lifesaving work would not be possible without the generosity of our supporters and people like George.'
Hunstanton RNLI operates a fast inshore lifeboat, Spirit of West Norfolk and is one of just four to also operate a search and rescue hovercraft.
Like more than 200 stations around the coast of the UK and Ireland, Its crew's lifesaving work is funded entirely by donations and legacies.

The RNLI charity saves lives at sea. Its volunteers provide a 24-hour search and rescue service around the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland coasts. The RNLI operates 238 lifeboat stations in the UK and Ireland and more than 240 lifeguard units on beaches around the UK and Channel Islands. The RNLI is independent of Coastguard and government and depends on voluntary donations and legacies to maintain its rescue service. Since the RNLI was founded in 1824, its lifeboat crews and lifeguards have saved over 146,000 lives.
