Four months of hard work by the volunteer team has resulted in record funds raised for the lifeboat.

Lifeboat Day 2023

The Newbiggin fundraising team are celebrating the great results of a busy summer within our community and beyond. Over the three months over £20,000 has been raised at events including Lifeboat Day, Hartlepool Tall Ships and a number of large donations.

Our shop team have also been extremely busy with the shop volunteers making the sales but also engaging with the many visitors to the station as they look around the array of boathouse artefacts.

The volunteer team have been resolute in going the extra mile throughout and their efforts continue to go from strength to strength.

Key facts about the RNLI

The RNLI charity saves lives at sea. Its volunteers provide a 24-hour search and rescue service around the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland coasts. The RNLI operates 238 lifeboat stations in the UK and Ireland and more than 240 lifeguard units on beaches around the UK and Channel Islands. The RNLI is independent of Coastguard and government and depends on voluntary donations and legacies to maintain its rescue service. Since the RNLI was founded in 1824, its lifeboat crews and lifeguards have saved over 146,000 lives.
