Bob is married to Lyn Holmes and the couple have been supporters of the lifesaving charity for many years, previously having connections with the RNLI Lifeboat Station in Broadstairs. Instead of gifts from relatives and friends for his birthday he decided to ask for donations to Exmouth RNLI.

Bob and Lyn presented their donation to Exmouth RNLI volunteer crew, Rory Carrig, at Exmouth Lifeboat Station on 7th September where they were given a special tour of the station.

Bob said, “I must thank family and friends who were very happy to donate to the RNLI in lieu of birthday gifts and raise so much for a charity that means such a lot to me.”

Des White, Chair of Exmouth RNLI Fundraising Team, said, “I was pleased to meet Bob and Lyn and hear about their longtime interest in the RNLI, to congratulate Bob on his birthday and, on behalf of all the volunteers at Exmouth RNLI, to thank him very much for thinking of us in this way. His kind and generous donation to our local lifesavers will be used for essential training and equipment for the volunteer Exmouth Lifeboat crews to enable them to continue their work saving lives at sea.”
