RNLI-911 Challenge 2023 visit Berwick-upon-Tweed Lifeboat station

Their mission and aim is to raise awareness of the RNLI, and its volunteers whose sole purpose is to save lives at sea and by raising funds to buy a D-class lifeboat for the charity by 2024, through their RNLI 911 challenge 2023.

They are visiting 116 lifeboat stations, around the whole of England, the Isle of Man, Isles of Scilly, Isle of Wight as well as the Channel Islands and Alderney, Guernsey and Jersey, finishing in Poole on 15 September.

The RNLI charity saves lives at sea. Its volunteers provide a 24-hour search and rescue service around the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland coasts. The RNLI operates 238 lifeboat stations in the UK and Ireland and more than 240 lifeguard units on beaches around the UK and Channel Islands. The RNLI is independent of Coastguard and government and depends on voluntary donations and legacies to maintain its rescue service. Since the RNLI was founded in 1824, its lifeboat crews and lifeguards have saved over 146,000 lives.
