New coxswain James Roberts
James is a local fisherman, an Inshore Lifeboat Helm at Penlee and is a popular member of the crew, he has been working hard to complete his coxswain assessments over the last six months and on Saturday was put through an extensive examination afloat with RNLI Assessor Carl Beardmore and passed with flying colours.

Coxswain Patch Harvey said ‘from an early age James has shown great commitment and has a real cool head on his shoulders. I knew he was coxswain material years ago and I am delighted for him and the station’.

Carl Beardmore said ‘Very well done James. You excelled on the day and I saw a natural leader both in the soft skills and when under pressure. This is your starting block, you’re a credit to your family, community and your station.
