Rather than buy more traditional gifts, the couple generously asked guests at their summer wedding to make donations to the local RNLI station.
Julie said “It is a heartfelt donation from our lovely guests, who attended our very special wedding celebration on 21st July this year. The sum of £700 is to be spent in Arbroath to aid the fabulous work the RNLI do here.”
Ron Churchill, lifeboat operations manager at Arbroath, expressed his gratitude, saying “What a fantastic gesture from Robert and Julie. As a charity, we rely on such generosity and for them to ask their guests to donate to us rather than receive gifts for their wedding is amazing.”
“The donation will be put towards providing lifesaving equipment and training for our crew.”
“On behalf of myself and the crew, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to Robert & Julie.”
During their visit, Robert & Julie were shown round the station and chatted to some of the crew.
