On Wednesday 15 November, volunteers from Walmer RNLI were delighted to welcome Paul and Tracy Booth and James Bridger from the Deal Co-Op stores to the station where they presented a cheque for over £4,500. Walmer lifeboat is one of three local charities to benefit from donation cheques, with money raised from Co-Op members card scheme.

Speaking at the presentation, Walmer’s Operations Manager Denis Brophy said: ‘ We would like to sincerely thank the stores and their members. It costs around £2,000 to kit out a single crew member and £1,400 annually in training costs for each individual. The money they have raised will go towards this and training crew so they can have the skills to keep themselves and others safe’.

Walmer lifeboat station was established in 1856.
