The crew launched their D-Class ILB (In-Shore Lifeboat) ‘Damar’s Pride’ into slight sea conditions, but with good and clear visibility and headed to the last reported location, adjacent to local Gunfleet sailing club. Upon arrival at the location, a thorough search was conducted from this point to Clacton pier, but no casualty was located.

Shortly after, the casualty was located to the west side of the pier, by a local mobile coastguard unit, and the crew were requested to remain on standby for 10 minutes should they be needed.

Subsequently the crew were stood down by the coast guard and the lifeboat returned to the station, was recovered, cleaned, refuelled and back ready on service by 8.45pm.

RNLI Clacton Press Officer Mark Walsham said ‘Should anyone see anyone in difficulties in or around the water, call 999 and ask for the coastguard to call for help.’
