Recently two volunteers from the Mudeford RNLI, Tim Hewett and Robin Pellat, spoke to the Bure Probus Club at one of their meetings held at the Harbour Hotel about the RNLI, the charity that saves lives at sea. Following the talk, one of the members, John Sellens spoke to the volunteers about his new book, ‘Reels and Deals – Angling for Business’.

Probus members, who were provided with an advanced copy, were asked to make a donation towards a local charity of John’s choosing. When presenting the cheque on Sunday 14 May, John commented, ‘ I wanted the money to go to a local charity. From the talk we had, it had to be the RNLI. We heard about all the volunteer jobs that people do that no one ever sees, and it is unbelievable that you are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.’

He joked, ‘I hope I don’t ever need to be saved by you, but it is great to think that this money could help you to save someone’s life.’
