RNLI Clacton launch to report of drifting RIB
On Wednesday 10 May 2023 just after 9.30am, volunteer crews from the Clacton-on- Sea RNLI Lifeboat station launched their Atlantic 85 lifeboat to reports of an inflatable RIB drifting approximately 14 miles offshore.
The volunteer crew launched their Atlantic B-Class lifeboat into a clear and smooth sea conditions, with excellent visibility, and headed to the location provided by the UK coastguard. Enroute to the provided co-ordinates, the volunteer crew searched the middle deep area and Barrow deep areas with nothing located.
Upon arrival at the final location the crew conducted a thorough search but found nothing of note.
The crew quickly proceeded with a creeping line search, covering 5NM (Nautical Miles), with no sign of anything of concern.
The crews were stood down by the coastguard whereby they returned to the station where the lifeboats were recovered, cleaned, refuelled and ready for service by 12 noon.
