Beaumaris Inshore Lifeboat night time recovery

The Beaumaris Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat Annette Mary Liddington with her volunteer crew launched at 9.34 pm and proceeded to recover the inflatable kayak from the yacht and examine it for any indication of ownership, but other than a paddle loose in the craft nothing was found.in the craft.

A search of the shore line between Bangor Pier and Felinheli on both sides of the Menai Strait was undertaken by the local Mobile Coastguard teams from Bangor and Penmon who had also been tasked. In the meantime, the lifeboat commenced a structured search of the area between these locations.

In view of information received from the public and no reports being received of anyone being missing the search was called off by H.M. Coastguard and the coastguard’s units together with the lifeboat instructed to proceed to their stations.

The lifeboat arrived back at Beaumaris, at 11.10 pm to be refuelled and cleaned. Once this had been completed the crew left the station at 11.50 pm.

A RNLI spokesperson said, ‘We would like to thank those members of the public who spoke to either the lifeboat volunteers or the mobile coastguard teams for their assistance. In addition, may we please ask all owners of inflatables to ensure that a laminated card or similar is left on the craft with their names and contact number thereon, also if you know that an inflatable has been caught by the wind or tide please advise H. M. Coastguard as soon as possible, even if the craft has no occupant aboard. as this may in a worst-case scenario avoid assets being redeployed form one incident to look for a possible occupant of the inflatable.’
