Cheque presented to Scarborough RNLI by Scarborough Yacht Club

Scarborough Yacht Club members have put in an incredible amount of hard work raising this year’s donation. Fundraising activities have included the annual Race for the Pennant in September 2022 and the charity dinner dance in November 2022. In addition, the cancelled 2020 donation which comprised proceeds from an evening of great music in December 2019 by Charlotte Buxton and The Rocketz were also included.

It’s a tradition that began over forty years ago and is an integral part of the shared heritage between these two historic institutions in Scarborough connected by the sea.

Roger Buxton, Lifeboat Operations Manager for Scarborough RNLI says: 'The yacht club and the RNLI have had a close relationship for many years. A lot of active sailors have gone on to join the RNLI, and many existing RNLI crew have joined the yacht club to participate in sailing. As a past Commodore, I am proud to be involved in both.'

It was a well-attended event, enjoyed by all, with many family and friends of both the Scarborough RNLI crew and Scarborough Yacht Club members.

Scarborough RNLI would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to Scarborough Yacht Club for all their hard work raising this donation and hosting the presentation evening.
