Kate turned up at Newquay lifeboat station one Sunday morning back in October 2021 and offered her services after relocating to Newquay from London.

Following five years of volunteering as lifeboat crew on the river Thames, Newquay RNLI crew didn’t hesitate to take Kate on board. She is passionate about people, keeping active and the planet and this permeates through Kate’s day job where she delivers public e-bike sharing schemes in partnership with local authorities in the south west.

RNLI Assessor Trainer for the region, Carl Beardmore assessed Kate during her recent final exercise after 17 months of intense training with Newquay volunteer crew on station.

Kate said: ‘Volunteering for the RNLI is a great way to develop new skills and feel part of a team that can make a difference in the local community.

I couldn’t be more grateful to everyone at Newquay lifeboat station for the warm welcome and investment in supporting me to become a competent crew member here’.
