Lifeboats News Release

Both Poole Lifeboats were requested to immediately launch by HM Coastguard at 2.30pm (Thursday June 15) to a report of a car in the water.

The car had entered the water from the North Haven side at the Chain ferry slip.

The lifeboats were swiftly on scene, both lifeboats were deployed as it was not known at that time if any people were in the vehicle.

Conditions were calm, with a slight north easterly breeze.

When the lifeboats arrived on scene a crewmember was put ashore to establish if there were any missing persons, and it was soon confirmed that there was not. The person whose car it was, was safe ashore.

Both lifeboats were requested to stand down with thanks and returned to station.

After refuelling and a wash down the lifeboats were made ready for service by 3.45pm.

For Joe who was on the D class, this was his first shout as Helm, one to remember, well done Joe.

Poole volunteers have launched 57 times this year.
