Callout for Troon RNLI volunteers after annual Open Day

Lifeboats News Release

On Saturday 22 July 2023, shortly after the end of our annual station Open Day at 4.47pm, the pagers of the volunteer crew sounded to launch the RNLI all-weather and inshore lifeboats to assist with a search at Ardrossan.

With most of the lifeboat crew still at the station, RNLI Trent class all-weather lifeboat RNLB Jim Moffat and D class inshore lifeboat Sheena were soon heading out of the harbour.

However, a few minutes later, the crew were notified by Belfast Coastguard that person had been located and so the lifeboats were able to return to station.

After both lifeboats were made ready for service, Troon Lifeboat Operations Manager Jim Redmond said, ‘Thanks to everyone who came along to our 2023 Lifeboat Station Open Day. Throughout the day, several hundred people were able to speak to the volunteers and see aboard the lifeboats. We hope everyone enjoyed their visit to our lifeboat station and thank you for supporting the RNLI in Troon.’
