The annual Grand Prize Draw will take place at 3.00pm on lifeboat day at the lifeboat station. Tickets are £1 each or £5 per book and are available from the Fowey RNLI shop, local pubs, restaurants, shops and on the day. There are some fabulous prizes including: Two nights B&B at a St Austell Brewery pub, Tarquin’s Distillery visit and tasting, Lerryn river trip, Seafari rib trip, Colwith Farm Distillery visit and tasting, Tug boat trip, Fowey Valley cider / gin making, Cornwall Encounter £30 paddleboarding voucher and 1 hour self-drive boat hire.

Chris Ogg, Fowey Lifeboat Operations Manager said: ‘We’re looking forward to doing lifeboat day a bit differently this year. Holding it at the station will allow people to find out much more about what we do and to see both lifeboats up close. As well as having the chance to chat to the crew and look around the boathouse we have plenty going on in and around the station. We are a fully operational lifeboat station, so we have put plans in place to ensure that if there is a shout on the day, we can still provide the same high level of service as normal. Our D class inshore lifeboat is being moored on the pontoon next to the all-weather lifeboat for the day. Crew will be on hand showing visitors around the all-weather lifeboat. If we need to launch either of the boats, visitors will be escorted safely off the pontoon so that the crew can proceed with their duties as usual.’

Fowey lifeboat week continues with The Polperro Wreckers on Fowey Town Quay from 7pm on Sunday August 30. On Tuesday August 1 The Safe Harbour in Fowey is running a pub quiz from 8pm and on August Wednesday 2, there is a BBQ at the Royal Fowey Yacht Club with live music from The Stowes and fundraising cocktails and beers. Non-members are welcome and tickets are £20 available from [email protected]. The week ends with the annual shanty fest at The Safe Harbour on Saturday August 5 from 2pm. A great beer and cider festival featuring shanty bands Hit & Miss, Cousin Jack, Acapella Moonshine, Cobweb crew, Lemonaires and Port Isaac gulls. All events during lifeboat week will be raising vital funds for Fowey RNLI lifeboat station.
