Volunteer crew launched their D-Class ILB (Inshore Lifeboat) Damar’s Pride into clear but slight sea conditions and headed directly to the reported location around Clacton pier.

The crew, unaware if the casualty was in the water or not immediately conducted a shoreline search from the lifeboat station to Clacton pier, with no casualty located.

The crew using their highly manoeuvrable ILB lifeboat proceeded to search under the pier, and when no casualty was found, a further sweep of two groynes to the East of the pier was conducted.

With no sign of a casualty, and after communication with the coastguard, the crew received communication to stand down.

The crew proceeded back to the lifeboat station where the lifeboat was cleaned, refuelled and ready for service just before 6am.
