Mudeford RNLI Lifeboat Station crew were delighted to welcome RNLI lifeguards from Christchurch, Bournemouth, Poole and Boscombe on a recent visit to the station.

Both lifeboat crew and lifeguards were keen to learn more how each team operated and how they can work better together to keep people safe on and near the water.

During their visit, the lifeguards were given a tour of the station and an overview of how the lifeboat is launched and a rescue operation conducted. The lifeguards also shared with the station crew the types of casualties they encounter and the recovery equipment at their disposal.

Having worked together on several rescues during the past few years, both teams agreed that the opportunity to spend time together, learning more about their respective roles and resources, and building relationships was invaluable.

Mudeford RNLI volunteer helm, Andy Read added, ‘A big thank you to our RNLI lifeguard colleagues for visiting our station. Our close collaboration only strengthens with this kind of engagement. Both teams came away with a lot of useful information that will help all of us in our combined efforts to keep people safe on and near the water’.

The Mudeford RNLI lifeboat has launched 53 times so far this year.
