Dover lifeboat rescues 52ft yacht in distress in the Channel

Paged at 4.40pm yesterday, the Dover RNLI crew were tasked to assist a 52ft yacht with engine difficulties approaching the main Dover shipping channel.

On passage from the Scilly Isles to her home port of Calais, the 52 ft vessel experienced ongoing engine difficulties - the Dover volunteer crew were tasked to assist her back to the safety of Dover Marina and if needed, offer a tow.

A member of the crew was placed aboard to monitor the situation and she successfully made her way back to port under her own power.

With no casualties reported and the vessel safely escorted to Dover marina, the crew were stood down - A successful outcome and should you ever experience difficulty at sea, always call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
