A busy weekend for Harwich RNLI lifeboats

Lifeboats News Release

Harwich RNLI inshore lifeboat Tierney, Harvey and Sonny Reid swiftly made its way to the reported position on the River Orwell. Once there, it was determined that a recently installed electrical device had inadvertently triggered the man overboard signal, which the owner had been unable to turn off. After it was established that no one was in danger, the inshore lifeboat returned to station.

At 7:07am on Sunday 23 April the Coastguard requested the launch of Harwich RNLI all-weather lifeboat The Duke of Kent to assist with an injured worker on a vessel heading towards Harwich Harbour. The crews were tasked with evacuating the worker from the vessel and transporting them to a waiting ambulance for further care.

Volunteer members of the Harwich lifeboat crew who had been trained in casualty care watched over the worker until they could be handed into the care of the emergency teams on land. Once the tasking had been completed, Harwich RNLI crews commenced their regular training.
