Troon RNLI all-weather lifeboat launching on service

After arriving on scene and with nothing initially found, and with weather conditions deteriorating, Troon all-weather was tasked to assist.

At 5.22pm, the pagers of Troon RNLI lifeboat crew were activated by Belfast Coastguard to assist Largs inshore lifeboat with the ongoing search. The volunteers attended at the lifeboat station and Trent class all-weather lifeboat RNLB Jim Moffat was soon heading to the search area joining coastguard teams on the shore and the Coastguard helicopter, Rescue 199, from Prestwick.

A search pattern was established considering the conditions on scene to the north and south of Seamill using the search teams but there was still no sign of the missing kayaker.

After a search and further local enquiries, Belfast Coastguard were satisfied that the kayaker had made it ashore and so the lifeboat was able to return to station returning shortly before 8pm.

The all-weather lifeboat was then made ready for service with the assistance of the shore crew and the crew were able to get some dinner.
