The vessel had developed a problem with its prop shaft and was taking in a small amount of water. RNLI Lifeboat 17-27 was on passage from St Mary’s, Isles of Scilly and was standing by prior the RNLB Rose’s arrival on scene. Following consultation with the skipper, it was ascertained that the vessel was still able to make its own way and it was not necessary to attach a tow.

The amount of water coming in to the vessel was closely monitored and the lifeboat crew were ready with their salvage pump if the need had arisen. Under the command of Coxswain Dan Atkinson, RNLB Rose and her crew very slowly escorted the vessel in to Falmouth, arriving there shortly before 4pm.

The Lifeboat arrived back at her station in Kilcobben Cove just after 6pm and was made ready for service again when required.
