Both Eastbourne Lifeboats respond to a person on the water.

Both of Eastbourne's Lifeboats were paged at 19.30 on May 1 to reports of a person in the water off Eastbourne Pier.

The D-class inshore lifeboat was quickly on scene and located the casualty before recovering them into the lifeboat before commencing lifesaving casualty care.

The casualty was taken ashore and passed into the care of ambulance personnel and the Coastguard rescue helicopter's paramedic. The inshore lifeboat then collected the station doctor from the all-weather lifeboat and returned to shore.
