Volunteer crew from Blyth RNLI were delighted to be invited to Blyth Golf Club recently to accept a cheque from the Ladies Captain.

Tina Atkinson, Blyth Golf Club Ladies Captain had chosen Blyth RNLI as her nominated charity for 2021 and held a small number of events and also raised funds by using 'Betty's 5p pots'

A fantastic £1723 was raised for the charity.

Upon receiving the cheque Volunteer Helm Jordan Holmes said; 'We'd like to thank Tina, and the ladies of Blyth Golf Club for their support and generous donation. Without their support and that of the public we would not be able to continue to save lives at sea.

The RNLI charity saves lives at sea. Its volunteers provide a 24-hour search and rescue service around the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland coasts. The RNLI operates 238 lifeboat stations in the UK and Ireland and more than 240 lifeguard units on beaches around the UK and Channel Islands. The RNLI is independent of Coastguard and government and depends on voluntary donations and legacies to maintain its rescue service. Since the RNLI was founded in 1824, its lifeboat crews and lifeguards have saved over 146,000 lives.
