Lifeboats News Release

Have you ever wondered how it feels to be a member of a lifeboat crew? Or what kit we carry aboard our RNLI all-weather and inshore lifeboats?

Troon RNLI Open Day 2022

RNLI/TroonLifeboat

Troon RNLI Open Day 2022
There’s an opportunity to see behind the scenes at the lifeboat station, on Saturday 16 July 2022 from 12pm until 5pm, as the station opens its doors to the public for our Open Day.

Tour the lifeboat station, see aboard our Trent class all-weather and D class inshore lifeboats while meeting our volunteer crew. You’ll be able to ask all your questions about the work our crews do while looking at the history of the RNLI in Troon since 1871 which is displayed throughout the station.

To start our open day this year we are doing something different. From 10am-12pm there will be a lifeboat pull through the streets of Troon of the William Riley Lifeboat.

The William Riley Lifeboat is a 2.7 ton 34 foot Rubie class lifeboat, which was built in 1909, will be pulled from North Shore Road to the South Esplanade to show how lifeboats used to be launched.

Join us to celebrate 150 years of the RNLI in Troon.
